About this deal

Additionally, guides often appreciate how simple the WhisperLite is to fix, clean, and maintain in the field. However, we would argue that because the WhisperLite can run on high carbon liquid fuel (which creates more buildup), this stove may require more cleaning and maintenance than other stoves. What we didn’t like: weight (although it’s quite good for a group stove), slower boil (but only by a few seconds) Adventures in Stoving liked the MSR 1.8 L WindBurner over the similarly-sized option available from JetBoil, although he finds the weight hard to justify if you don’t see wind in your future. The WindBurner Duo takes everything we like about the Reactor and makes it more user-friendly for those in charge of groups who are cold, hungry, and need a morale boost in the form of hot food. What we liked: fits fuel canister inside, fast boil, ease to use, space efficient, all-included, simmering, insulated rubber handles and side-body, a pressure regulator to keep fuel use consistent in the cold, includes pour spout in lid

The following tip applies to both models of the WhisperLite stove, the SimmerLite stove, and the WindPro stove.

However, if you already own the WindBurner Duo anyway, we highly recommend the MSR WindBurner 1 L accessory add-on cookpot. Why? Because you can use the same stove base as the group-sized WindBurner, effectively two stoves in one! The WindBurner is an intuitive system. Unfold the legs, plop the stove on the burner, and screw the canister into the end of the satellite piping system. That’s right. Unlike the other stoves we considered, the WindBurner is a remote canister stove. In 2017, we introduced the remote-canister design, in which the stove is remotely connected to the canister by a fuel line. This new design supports larger pots and is available in the WindBurner Duo System,Group System and Combo System. Plus, it has a flame control system that lets you adjust the size of the flame to suit your cooking needs.

With the PR D, whilst I think it would be foolish to not to take any other form of lighter, so far I haven't needed one - and that's impressive. To ensure its durability, we routed the wire up through the stove body so there’s nothing hanging on the exterior of the stove that could catch. In addition, the electrode igniter is set deep within the burner cup for maximum protection. To use the canister crushing tool, first, make sure that your can is empty before attempting. It can be dangerous to pierce if there’s gas still inside. Read directions before you attempt this. The Soto Windmaster stove is a reliable and easy-to-use stove that provides excellent performance in any weather conditions. It is an ideal choice for adventurers who want to prepare meals on the go. The WindMaster’s regulator is also compatible with gas mixtures such as butane, isobutane, and propane, but is not compatible with 100% propane. Plus, you’ll want to keep the base of the WindMaster clean and always keep the plastic cap on the gas canister when not in use. Get the most out of your outdoor cooking experience with the SOTO WindMaster w/Micro Regulator and 4Flex.There are currently two WindBurner stove designs. The original threads directly onto the top of the canister. It is available only in the smallest WindBurner system, the Personal 1.0 L System.

On average, the stover offers 60 minutes (with an 8 oz. canister MSR IsoPro) of burn time. 1 hour of use per canister may not seem like much, but consider that the majority of things you need to prepare only require you to boil water (which take a little over three minutes per liter.) If you are cooking elaborate meals, you will obviously blaze through your fuel at a faster clip. However, the WindBurner Duo is a remote canister stove, which gives it better stability over the Reactor. (Note that the WindBurner Personal doesn’t have the remote canister, so isn’t quite as stable). Another aspect where the Jetboil Stash excels is the ability to fit both the fuel canister and the stove base into the pot. This was a feature we liked with the Jetboil MiniMo, but it works much better on the Stash. In fact, when you buy the Stash, it comes with an empty fuel can-shaped trinket case just to show off how well everything fits together in the pot. What we liked: extreme windproofness, fast boil, igniter that never dies, modularity allows for use on solo pots or big group group pots, cooks hotter and faster than other stoves Watch your sleeves when lighting your stove. Thin material, especially that of wind shirts, is quite susceptible to melting if it comes anywhere close to a flame.

Gregory Packs Amber Plus Size 65l review

Like you, one of our concerns about canister stoves over other fuel types is the guilt associated with throwing out metal. We were thrilled to discover that there is a g as canister recycling tool available but found some fine print. Built around the same technology as the award-winning MSR Reactor, the WindBurner shares many similarities with that designed-for-mountaineers stove. The windproof burners on the two stoves are similar, but the WindBurner is designed to use fuel more efficiently with several features that make it more tailored to ease-of-use than the utilitarian Reactor. It’s also significantly less expensive than the Reactor.

Consistently Fast: Pressure regulator maintains stove's fast boil times even in cold weather & with low fuel. The second major feature is that the PR D has a built-in pressure regulator. This means the stove should not experience a drop-off in performance as your gas canister gets emptier, or when it is colder. MSR doesn't seem to give a minimum temperature for the PR D, but from past experience with other pressure regulated stoves like the Mighty Mo, and when using an 80/20 isobutane/propane gas mix, it should work fine to at least a few degrees below freezing. I'm sure I will happily use the PR D through the British winter.Push-Start Ignition: Fast, reliable piezo lighting; spark igniter is protected inside burner for maximum durability. Both of these stoves do have micro pressure regulators. Most stoves do not have pressure regulators; this is a complex little bit of machinery and so only found on premium stoves, like each of these. The pressure regulator is a valve design that attempts to keep the flow of fuel constant, irrespective of the pressure within the fuel canister. The pressure of the fuel canister decreases as the canister gets cold or as the canister empties. As a result, standard stoves will not perform well in the winter conditions and suffer measurably as the fuel gets closer to empty in the canister. Consistently Fast - Pressure regulator maintains stove's fast boil times even in cold weather & with low fuel. Best for: Ultralight travel during a wide range of seasonal conditions, including colder conditions I recommend cooking from your tent vestibule if and when you need to cook from inside the tent. I’d say pretty much avoid it at all costs unless the weather or conditions have deteriorated to the point of making outdoor cooking impossible.
