Lucy Diamond's books are always a great read in the family-drama type genre, and this was no exception. Especially as we all know dealing with the aftermath of losing a loved one can be a challenge and have such a long and devastating impact. It was heart breaking and moving to discover how this fictional family handled one of the worst curveballs that they can ever be thrown. Even so, it doesn't disappoint and takes the reader through several twists and turns that provoke all the emotions that you should expect to go through when reading a book penned by an established, first class Author. Their fond recounting of stories about Leni was wonderful and following them all through their grief was so sad yet uplifting.But I found this one to be just ok, I didn’t love it and I didn’t dislike it so I guess I’m somewhere in between. Normally, I don’t overly connect with male characters but there was just something about him that made me very fond of him. The only one who annoyed me was Alice, as what Leni was up to in her last days consumed her to the point of obsession and took over her whole life. It’s grieving to the fullest, following all stages from denial to coming to terms to their new reality.
