You will face off against other world builders who will work with the same materials that you have to see who can build the greatest forest world. They score two points per full rune if the area is closed in and will only score one point if the area still has any open edges. One player will have the construction token and they will have the option of taking a Tree token and placing it somewhere in their forest.

Most of the numbers on the World tiles are on a dark background, but a few are on a light background.

Even though I have an issue with the box and how the tiles sit willy nilly in it, that is not enough for me to not give it high recommendations, especially to fans of tile laying games.

Every time a tile with a white circle around the number is revealed, all players may add a tree token to their forest. Legendary Forests is a new board game coming to us from Japanese developer Toshiki Sato, illustrator Biboun, and published by Iello. He is a contributor to The Dice Tower Podcast and has written for Games Trade Magazine and Meeple Monthly.

If a Tree token is in an Open Zone, it scores victory points equal to the exact number of Full-Runes in that Zone. The components themselves feel calming, they’re pretty and well-made, though it is a shame you never get to see the beautiful reverse side during gameplay. Each player has an identical set of tiles and plays the same tile at the same time to their own tableau, but where each player places each tile may differ.
